Depleted by injuries and illness, Tillery had to dig
deep on a filthy dark, dank night to recover from a
very jittery start and gain a vital victory in their
promotion push.
As in the previous outing against St. Joseph's, the
home side was very slow to get out of the blocks and
Abercarn capitalised with their forwards causing
Tillery discomfort in both the tight and loose.
Indeed, the Green & Whites were hugely indebted to
Darren Miles who twice pulled off try-saving tackles
in the opening ten minutes.
Having kept their line intact, at last the hosts
seemed to get grips both with their opponents and
literally with the wet slippery playing surface. But
a defensive slip in midfield allowed the visitors'
full back Jason Evans to score a good try, well
converted by himself.
