Division Three East
Two weeks after their convincing league win at Woodland Park, Tillery returned for a WRU plate encounter and posted an even more emphatic victory. The Green & Whites managed one more try than the six scored in the league game, hooker Anton Wells leading the way with a first half brace which put his team on the way to success.
Two pleasing aspects of the game were the excellent disciplined nature shown throughout and the fitness of the Tillery squad, which will set them in good stead for the difficult league encounters ahead in coming weeks.
Abertillery showed their intent straight from the kick-
Tillery’s dogged determination
ultimately paid dividends when after 23 minutes determined driving forward play saw
hooker Anton Wells crash over for a well deserved try excellently converted by Daniel
Haile.
Croesyceiliog however had the desire to get on the scoreboard and their first meaningful
attack led to a well-
This narrow escape stirred the Green and Whites as they upped their
game and again stormed onto the attack and a super take at the lineout set-
The last move of the half was a sweeping attack
that put centre Chris Stevens over for another try converted again by the reliable
boot of Dan Haile.

Strong words must have been said in the Croesy camp
at half time as they threw everything into attack at the start of the half. However,
excellent defence by the Abertillery 15 denied them any chance of increasing their
score. A penalty ultimately relieved this pressure and from a resultant scrum in
the midfield the ball was worked wide and fullback Darren Miles waltzed through for
a try.
The Abertillery pack was now in dominant mood, winning ball against the head
with sheer pressure on their opposing eight at the scrum and this paid dividends
with two tries in quick succession by Nicky Stevens and Luke Pegler, both converted
by Daniel Haile.
The final score came two minutes from the end when No 8 Kyle Griffiths crashed over
the line from a driving scrum.
